Canvas Prints & Wraps
Canvas Wraps have become our most popular form of enlargements for portraits, landscapes and even sports photography. Printed on 100% cotton canvas and streteched around hardwood frames your canvases will last a lifetime.
When designing your canvas wrap you must decide if you are wanting a "Gallery Wrap" canvas where your image overlaps on the side, or if you will need to select or want to select a "Colored Edge Wrap". Most Gallery Wraps are printed to be stretched on the 1.5" frames although we do print some on 3/4" frames when smaller sizes are requested. We do not suggest ordering a 3/4"stretcher bar when ordering sizes larger than 20"x30". Larger prints just look better hanging on the wall with a 1.5" side. Some order 3/4" stretcher bar size when they are later adding a custom frame to the canvas.
When ordering smaller sizes (less than 16"x20") quite often you will run into issues of wraping important parts of the image on the side, in these cases we suggest ordering a black edge, or possibly a white edge.
If you are wanting to frame your canvas you may want to mount your prints on a board, if this is the case we suggest using masonite or gatorfoam. More flexible boards will increase the chance of the canvas becoming unglued from the board. Even with masonite or gatorfoam we suggest immediately framing the prints to keep pressure on the edges so they do not peel back. With only 50% surface area of canvas touching the board the chances of peel is much greater than a traditional print.
Cropping: If you are not using our website Mastercoloronline to order your Canvases or the ROES Software and are cropping your own images to order please remember to add the extra length to allow for the wrapping portion of the sides. For a 16"x20" canvas on a 1.5" frame you need to crop the image as a 19"x23" to allow for the 1.5" on each side. If ordering the same image for a 3/4" frame you would need to crop it as a 17.5"x21.5". A third option style for your edge is to use a "mirror" edge, this option is not available on ROES but is on the Mastercoloronline website. You can also upload your image to us and we can mirror the edge for you. For a 1.5" frame we would basically select the 1.5" from the front of the image, flip it, and then add to the sides of your print creating a mirror effect.
